Care Ministries
Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39
The Mission of the Congregational Care Ministries
The mission of the Congregational Care Ministries is to recognize and affirm the need for care of the whole person as it relates to the overall ministry and mission of the congregation. Our objective is to assess the ongoing care needs of the members of our congregation and to establish ministries or programs appropriate to those needs.
We are dedicated to providing service of many kinds to our faith community.
This is for when you need someone who listens, someone who supports, someone who cares, and who will keep your concerns confidential.
If you would like to talk to a Stephen Minister, please call the church office at 623-584-2000 or email us at info@lolaz.org. The Stephen Ministry Referral Coordinators will contact you.

This ministry is designed to reach out to members of our congregation who are homebound, living in group homes, or care centers, are lonely or have lost contact with us. This ministry's goal is to make sure people do not fall through the cracks. We want to reach out to them and help them stay connected.

Prayer requests go to our telephone prayer chain and on a weekly email communication. If you have a prayer request please contact the office at 623-584-2000. If it is not for yourself, you must have the persons permission when you call.

- Prayer Shawl Knitting Ministry
We began our Prayer Shawl Ministry in 2004 as part of our Congregational Care Ministries. Since then we have given shawls to over 100 people. Many of our LOL members have participated by knitting or crocheting shawls. These shawls are given to men and women as reminders of how much God loves them and how special they are to our Lord of Life faith community. The knitting or crocheting is a sacred task; those who do this work weave prayers for healing into the shawls as they do so. The recipients are wrapped in the love and prayers of our congregation as they use them; the prayer shawl becomes a mantle of love. Many have been deeply moved by this gesture of kindness and care. We give thanks for those who give their time and expertise to this ministry.

Quilting is held in the Social Hall on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 8:30 am to noon. Quilts are made for full-size and single-size beds as well as baby and youth quilts. These are given through Lord of Life's Christmas Adopt-A-Family program, Habitat for Humanity homes, Clinica Adelante, West Valley Child Crisis Center, New Life Shelter, Lutheran Navajo Mission at Rock Point and Agape. Recently, our quilters have been asked to make "pocket" quilts for children who are displaced due to a traumatic event. The pocket allows the child to put some comfort items in the pocket to take along with them on their journey to their new or temporary home. New quilters are always welcome.

Greeting cards are designed and constructed by members of our card ministry. These cards are assembled once a month at a member's home to be used throughout the year to offer support or kind words in times of need and times of celebration!
