Announcements for Saturday, October 20 & Sunday, October 21
October Gratitude Gift Total: $1,670.00

October’s Gratitude Gift is Valley View Community Food Bank
Valley View receives our support throughout the year. October receives special emphasis on both cash and comestibles. Did you bring non-perishable, unopened food items and place them in the grocery cart in the Narthex today? If so, thank you! Your checks, payable to LOL and marked “Valley View”, expedite your giving and members’ giving records reflect this giving. From its facility on Grand Avenue in El Mirage and satellite centers in Sun City, Surprise and Youngtown, Valley View distributes more than 300 boxes of food daily. Income from sales of contributed goods at thrift centers in Sun City West and El Mirage goes toward fixed operating costs. Your monetary contributions buy food under discount arrangements. Make a Gratitude Gift today; please do not limit your giving to just one time!

The Big Mac Attack is Back
In March of 2017 we first collected boxes of mac & cheese for our single food item of the month. October will be our last wheelbarrow collection until January.   What better time for a repeat?  When we collected it the first time, we had…..drum roll….1367 boxes at the end of the month for the food bank. Let’s challenge ourselves to do better this second time around. Watch the tally sheet right above the wheel barrow as we chart our progress.   Macaroni was the largest number we have ever had, so bring on the challenge once again as the big mac attack is back! Please remember any other food items are always welcomed and appreciated and should be placed in the shopping cart. Thank you for all the items you have contributed this year.

Sunday, October 21, at 2:30pm, we are blessed to have West Side Tremble Clefs, a Parkinson Choir which has won friends throughout the West Valley with their singing. Please plan to attend as Tremble Clefs will sing some of your favorites such as “When He Wore a Tulip”.

Get Your Blood Pressure Checked at Lord of Life

Heart disease is a silent disease. Get your blood pressure checked after the 5:00pm Saturday service or at 9:30am between the Sunday services. The LOL clinic is staffed by members who are doctors, nurses and paramedics.

Easy Does It Especially When it Comes to Fragrances
A number of people are allergic to the colognes worn by both men and women. Please refrain from using perfume/cologne for the sake of worshippers who are sensitive and may suffer a life-threatening incident due to another’s use of a fragrance. Thank you.

Last Chance!

If you have not signed up to get your photograph made for the church directory, time is drawing to a close. November 17-18 and 24-25 will be the last opportunity to sign up prior to a church service.   The goal is to have everyone included for the most complete family directory ever!

W-ELCA Needs You!
W-ELCA needs you! What is W-ELCA? It is an organization of Women of the ELCA, every woman at Lord of Life is a member of W-ELCA. Our mission is: to mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. We do this by offering Circles, Programs, Retreats, Memorial Receptions and Service Projects. Why do we need you? We need a Treasurer. We have someone willing to run for Vice-President and Secretary, but if we can’t fill the other slot we can’t exist. Please contact, Shari Jones at 206-380-3503 if you would like more information. Please keep us in your prayers.
