![]() 2010 - 2013 Fund AppealOur mission statement calls us to serve together faithfully as followers of Christ. We are to love God as well as our neighbors. One way to show this love is in our coming together for worship. Vibrant worship uplifts members and can draw in the unchurched. Our worship and music services allow us to be fed and, in turn, go out and feed others.
We step out in faith with our church family in a perpetual motion of prayer, service, and fellowship. Our goal now is to increase spiritual growth through support for enhanced worship and support for outreach mission, both locally and globally.
Notice the upward strokes on the Mission in Motion logo. They depict an ongoing effort as we begin a three-year appeal to raise funds to purchase and install a pipe organ, support outreach mission projects and reduce the building debt.
All this we do to serve God. Please come and step out in faith with us as we begin our new journey as a faith community in our Mission in Motion. A Closer Look at Mission in MotionThe goal for the Mission in Motion appeal is to raise $1.5M over a three-year period. Donations can consist of cash, stocks or property, etc. There will be an opportunity to designate specific amounts for any or all of the three major areas. Our gols are as follows:
New Pipe OrganPipe organs have provided the music for choirs and congregations in Lutheran churches since Martin Luther used organ music to enhance the meaning and delivery of the Word and Sacrament. Did you know that when the Sanctuary was designed and built in 1986 there were plans for a pipe organ to be installed as a focal point for the music program, which is such an integral part of every worship experience? Limited funds in those early years of the congregation required that the pipe organ plans be shelved in favor of the less expensive Allen electronic organ which Lord of Life used up until the summer of 2011. It was hoped that one day, when the congregation had grown and stabilized, the move to follow through on those original plan would be undertaken. After almost a year of research during 2009, the Organ Committee reached a decision and made the recommendation that a pipe organ be purchased from Glatter-Gotz Orgelbau, a German designer and builder of world-class organs. This recommendation was approved by the Congregational Council and presented to and approved by the congregation at a special congregational meeting in March 2010. The contract was signed on March 4, 2010 and construction of the organ began in July 2010. The amount of $1,100,000.00 has been established as our primary goal in support of the Mission in Motion appeal. In addition, there will be an opportunity to buy a memorial pipe or pipes. Check out the progress of the organ construction here. Mission ProjectsLord of Life has a wonderful history of sharing its many blessings with those in need. In addition to the special Gratitude Gifts identfied for support each month, Lord of Life distributes over $100,000.00 annually to more than 20 extended ministries organizations which are over and beyond the ELCA Churchwide Mission Support commitments. The capital appeal goal of $300,00.00 provides and opportunity to reach out further into our community and world where the needs are great and overwhelming. The focus for the Mission in Motion appeal over the next three years for both local and global emphasis will be: Navajo Nation, Tanzania and Haiti Relief. The Council has approved the following:
Building Debt ReductionOur beautiful Church has continued to expand as needed over the years. The current mortgage was initiated in the Spring of 2004 to fund the addition of the Chapel, meeting and conference rooms, lobby additions in the Social Hall and expansion of the Narthex beyond the Sanctuary. The initial principal value of this mortgage was $1,498,000.00 and after just six years the principal has been reduced to $635,745.00. A goal of $100,000.00 has been established for giving in support of the Mission in Motion appeal along with the primary goals of supporting the new pipe organ and the local and global mission projects.
Stepping Out in FaithEach member of Lord of Life and our friends around the country and world now has the opportunity to step out in faith and support these various causes. Each and every one of us can play a part in securing our goal of $1.5M in three-year pledges.
God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly.1 Corinthians 9:8Mission in Motion PrayerLoving God, fill us with generosity and compassion as we carry out your mission in the world. May we serve you with grateful and committed hearts! Amen.
